NJDEP Adopts NJPACT/REAL Rules
The highly anticipated NJDEP REAL Rules were adopted on January 20, 2026. These rules have been in development for several years, with the proposed rules released in August 2024 and a Notice of Substantial Change issued in July 2025. As part of this adoption, significant amendments were made to the Coastal Zone Management Rules, Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act Rules, Flood Hazard Area Control Act Rules, and Stormwater Management Rules.
Our mission is to promote sound floodplain management to protect people, places, and property.
