ASFPM Conference Stipend
Join the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) on the shores of Lake Michigan at the world’s largest and most comprehensive floodplain management conference, May 31-June 4, 2026 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management (NJAFM) is supporting the education of its members by offering $2,500 stipends to the ASFPM Conference. These stipends are aimed towards individuals who would not otherwise have an opportunity to attend the conference and who would benefit greatly by implementing lessons learned upon their return.
Each $2,500 stipend will be used to offset eligible expenses, including conference registration, airfare, hotel, and meals (at government per diem rates). Receipts must be submitted to NJAFM following the conference, as the money will be paid as a reimbursement of qualified expenses. Any remaining expenses would be the responsibility of each individual.

Award recipients are encouraged to register for the ASFPM Conference by the Early Bird deadline of April 15, 2026, and will be responsible for making all conference, travel, and lodging arrangements. Conference registration and information is found at https://www.floods.org/conference/registration/

Are you a Local Official involved in Floodplain Management? Have questions about flood mitigation, mapping or regulations? Attend the NJAFM Conference! The New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management (NJAFM) is supporting the education of NJ local officials involved in floodplain management by offering scholarships to the 2026 NJAFM Annual Conference.
This conference is intended for attendees of diverse backgrounds including engineers, planners, code officials, floodplain managers, emergency management officials and other professionals involved in floodplain management. The 3 day annual conference is an opportunity to network and exchange ideas while acquiring the latest technical, regulatory and flood risk information. The scholarship is for the registration cost of the 3 day conference. Any travel or lodging costs remain the responsibility of the attendee.
To apply for a scholarship, you must be a NJAFM Local Official Member in good-standing or have recently submitted a membership application. A local official is considered to be an individual involved in the flood risk field, or working in the capacity of mayor, floodplain administrator, CRS coordinator, code official or emergency manager. The individual MUST work for a local governmental jurisdiction. Scholarship preference will be given to first-time attendees.
